 My Philosophy
To develop a well rounded, happy child I provide:
  • A secure, loving environment
  • Stimulation for learning and comfort for relaxation
  • Guidance for social interaction
  • A variety of toys and activities for creative play
  • A routine for general activities with a surprise spontaneity mixed in
  • An environment for them to explore, choose, and play
  • An opportunity for children to take care of their needs (brush teeth, pick up toys, etc.)
  • Proper bathroom techniques, cleanliness, hang up coat, etc.
  • Nourishing and interesting meals and snacks
  • The opportunity for them to make decisions
  • Teach them to adjust when they can't make the decisions
  • An appropriate discipline plan by using time outs or positive reinforcement
  • Continuous dialogue and respect with all parents

Preschool Academics
I provide instruction in a safe, creative learning environment:
  • Holding pencil, scissors, and eating utensils the proper way
  • Learning to recite and recognize the ABC's and sounds
  • Rhyme and the opposites
  • Tie shoes (this is my special talent)
  • Skip, hop, turn somersaults, etc.
  • Shapes and colors
  • Count
  • Dress, put on coat, zip, button, etc.
  • Recite the days of the week
Preschool Program

I provide a preschool program for 3-5 year olds that I developed with inspiration from the Early Start Program.  The following is the routine:

  • Line up in alphabetical order
  • Recite Pledge of Allegiance
  • Show and Tell (great for the child to experience being in the spot light and building confidence)
  • Sing the ABC's as we march to sit and listen to a story (could be a recording, puppet show, story teller, book, play acting)
  • Science (could be as simple as exploring the inside of a flower to science experiments about sound, color, etc.)
  • Art-they expand their abilities with the use of scissors, glue, paint, colors, etc. (sometimes the art project coordinates with our story)
  • Music (recordings, singing, band instruments, marching, etc.)
  • Fine Motor Activity (stringing beads, tearing newspaper and gluing the shapes on a larger piece of paper, etc.)
  • Gross Motor Activity (somersaults, pumping on swing, walking on a beam, skipping, etc.)
  • Potty Break (learn proper techniques, wash hands, etc.)
  • Snack Time (great time for learning colors, counting, shapes, and manners) we pray before each snack and meal
  • Free Play (the most important time of the day for them to learn social skills!
